A Story Rooted in Oregon’s Alternative Culture 1970 – 1972

His job writing for sitcoms gone with the recession, his wife gone with another woman, Jamie is ready for a change. A change of just what he doesn’t quite know but then there is his somewhat mysterious Uncle Sam who lives in Oregon’s emerald land, the destination of previous pilgrims who arrived in wagons or in VW vans.

Sam extends a welcome to Jamie and through stories and an American-style walkabout through the forests and to the ocean, where the continent of manifest destiny ends, introduces Jamie to the sweep of inner landscapes. And along the way in Jamie’s journey there are revelations, personal and beyond, opening the younger man to greater possibilities, a different way of being.
